Nursery Product Safety Workshops
Every year in Australia, approximately 6500 babies will be injured through nursery product use/misuse. 540 babies will be admitted to hospital and 10 will die. For your baby's sake, it is imperative that you know how to use your nursery products correctly and safely.
In 2005 many changes have been planned to Nursery Product Safety Standards. Tragically, because of an infant's death last year, some have already happened. Where will you find out what these changes are and how they will impact you and your baby? At the last Nursery Product Reference Group Meeting chaired by the Office of Fair Trading, only five manufacturers and two retailers were represented. All4Mum was there.
We conduct Nursery Product Safety Workshops in various locations throughout South East Queensland.* At one of these workshops you will hear about any planned changes to Safety Standards. You will discover what a correctly installed child restraint should look like in your vehicle and how to safely move it from one car to another (read the car park survey results below). You will learn where not to place your baby's cot and why. You will hear which common nursery products are the most dangerous (accounting for nearly 30% of all injuries and no, it's not walkers), and what you can do to minimise the risks. Plus much, much more.
Workshops are not just for pregnant couples. Grandparents and day-care providers will also find them useful. Anyone planning on using second-hand goods should make attendance at a workshop essential before they buy anything.
